Activities for the 2008/2009 School Year

This first event of the new school year is an important informational meeting for anyone who is interested in joining CHEER or who has recently joined CHEER. All your questions about CHEER can be answered here!
s is one of two mandatory informational meetings, and assumes that you have gone to the Newcomers Meeting. Applications for both CHEER membership and Enrichment Day will be accepted at this meeting. You will hear about all CHEER events planned for fall and will be able to sign up for these events. Registration and payment for all field trips for the first half of the year will be made here. Bring your checkbooks and calendars.
The "Back to School Splash Bash" - A fun day to start the year off by getting together to play with many of our old CHEER friends and meet some new ones.
An inspirational time of dinner and fellowship with our CHEER friends. A gifted speaker will encourage us for our homeschool journeys. A great way to get to know our CHEER families.
An exciting parent lead teaching experience for all your children. Parents teach passionately once throughout the year. It is always an enriching time educationally and socially for your children. Enrichment Day is on a Friday every month from October through May from 9:00 - 12:00. Enrichment Day is followed by a pizza lunch, a great time of fellowship.
Monthly meetings to discuss different areas and concerns of homeschooling. Each month will focus on a different topic. This is a great place to be encouraged, to ask questions, find out about curriculum, and make new friends.
In the past, our Geography Fair has been an international experience where each family chooses a country to represent and after studying about the country, each family dresses and prepares a display about their country. We've also done a U.S. History/Geography Fair. This year, we are excited to plan a World History/Geography Fair, where each family will choose either a country, historical event, famous person or any combination thereof to study and will prepare a display about their state, historical event or person.
A spiritual, encouraging retreat where Mom's get time away. This is our time of fellowship and new friendships, a time to relax, have fun and be inspired by our guest speaker. Additionally, we attend the Perimeter Women's Retreat together as a group.
A spiritual, encouraging retreat where Dads develop friendships with other homeschooling Dads during a fun weekend as they share a villa at the Perimeter Men's Retreat.
A gathering of moms for fellowship, dessert, and prayer. A CHEER member will share her testimony of God's goodness. A guest speaker will share what God puts on her heart for us as home schooling Moms. The prayer time is a very special part of the night, because as we draw near to Christ, we are refreshed.
A special Enrichment Day just in time for Christmas. Our K - 12 students rotate from art station to craft station making wonderful creations which they wrap as gifts for their family.
This is our second mandatory meeting for members and is held in January. Any prospective members may join at this time. This is an informational meeting where you may sign-up for field trips, Enrichment Day or other events.
A fun, encouraging experience to test your children's spelling skills. Awards are given.
An fantastic opportunity to compete in the National
Geographic's Geography Bee. The winner from this competition will go on to compete for the National
Geographic's Geography Bee at the state level. CHEER students in Grades 4th ' 8th are eligible to participate in this event.
A very special evening for our daughters with their dads. Get dressed up, dance, and enjoy refreshments. Your daughters will leave with a special gift from their Daddies to remember the evening plus the evening will be captured in a 'prom-type' photo for Dads and their girls.
A science extravaganza! Your children display their science projects and have the opportunity to have them judged. Winners will go on to compete at the Regional Science Fair. Included are special Science demonstrations.
Held each Spring, this meeting for anyone considering homeschooling. A panel of home educators will share their philosophies of educating their children and how they make it happen.
An extension of the homeschool family, offering a la carte academic classes for students in 6th through 12th grade.
Here is your chance to sell the curriculum you bought and haven't been using or find a great deal on something you've been looking for. Whether it is new or old; there is always a great find!
A night of entertainment by our own CHEER families. This means Moms and Dads, too! A talent show, Chastain style. Before the show, your children can also display their art that they have worked on throughout the year. Each family brings their own picnic, tablecloth, and candle. We'll see what talent we have!
A Christian Passover Dinner where we experience the richness of celebrating the Passover with a Christian perspective 'From Exodus to the Cross'. This is a favorite family tradition!
A special tea time for Moms and daughters. Dress for tea and and have a girls day out and a delicious lunch with your girls.
A day to just be a boy and have a great outing with your Dad, and your friends and their Dad's.
In the spring, children learn all track and field events and then compete in a CHEER track meet.
A night to celebrate all the accomplishments of your children both academically and in growth of character. This is a special family time.
